Hello,
Does anyone know what the function of the jumpers J4 and J5 are on the USB PIC programmer board (VM203)? I don’t found it in the manual only a description about 28-pin selection.
Thank you
Hello,
Does anyone know what the function of the jumpers J4 and J5 are on the USB PIC programmer board (VM203)? I don’t found it in the manual only a description about 28-pin selection.
Thank you
Jumpers J4 and J5 are used to connect the VDDCORE/VCAP pin of PIC.
This pin should be connected either to external 10uF capacitor or to external 2.5V source.
If this pin should be connected to 10uF capacitor, put jumper J5.
In “LF” types this pin should be connected to the external 2.5V source.
In this case put jumper J4.
For more details please see in the PIC’s datasheet the chapter “On-Chip Voltage Regulator”.
Here you can download the VM203 circuit diagram to check the J4 and J5 connection:

Thank you for your response. Now I understand.
I see that the PIC18F2550 doesn’t have the “On-Chip Voltage Regulator” on board. It doesn’t matter how pin 6 is connected during programming, I suppose.

Both of the jumpers J4 and J5 can be removed.
