The Velleman K8200 rules!

The flex coupler was ordered from Ebay. Just enter “coupler 3D printer” as search string and you 'll find several auctions below 10 euros shipping included. Order the right diameter !

The spindle and brass bearing was ordered from a company in Roeselare (Belgium). I bought a piece of 1 meter and did shortened the spindle axis on the lathe.
Where did you buy the micrometer ?
The micrometer was ordered from Farnell, an online distributor of technology products and solutions for electronic system design. They offer different types of micrometers, I did order one from Mitutoyo with the below listed specs:

[ul]Measuring Range Max: 6.5mm
Graduations: 0.01mm
Accuracy: 0.005mm
Accuracy mm / Inch: 5µm
Graduation: 0.01mm
Measuring Range Min: 0mm [/ul]

Do you have the references ordered @ gallon, there are à lot of different pieces.

Spindle: TR12x3 1m
Bearing: SAE 660 (RG7) 12x3

Just call them, but they are very helpful !

Melkske, what about combined order? I need two sets. Please check my profile details.

Happy Easter !

Hallo Alexnn,

I am interested in a combined order, how can we proceed ?

Melkske

Melkske, please drop me an e-mail (it is in the Jabber line of my profile)
Cheers,
Alex

Fitchie,

Did you order rolled or milled threaded rods?
Milled rods seem to be a bit more precise but more expensive.

Is there any chance you have any more details on the plexiglass such as size or dimensions? I’m trying to source a similar one in the UK as I think it would cost too much to ship from Belgium.

Thanks
Ross

Hi Alex,

I did order a rolled rod. Regarding the specs, the deviation is below 0,1mm per 10 cm.

Hi Ross,

There is only a hand-drawn sketch on plain paper, but I’ll try to scan the document and upload it to the forum. Please hold…

Its ok, I have now ordered the parts from a UK plastics department, hopefully it should be here in a few days. I’ve also ordered the E3D extruder to go with the repairs as my current one keeps failing me.

Thanks anyway guys, ill post photos as soon as its come.
Upgrade #3: E3D extruder.

Definitely one of the best upgrades of my K8200 printer is the E3D extruder with a 0,25 mm nozzle.

With the E3D heater cartridge the heating curve on my printer continuous fluctuated between +10° and -10° Celsius of the desired nozzle temperature and sometimes I got the famous brown out reset.

So I’m using back the original Velleman heater cartridge in the E3D hot end. Works perfect !

You have done a very nice job on the cover and the other upgrades.

I am also switching to the E3D hotend, also using the original cartridge.
But did you use the thermister from velleman or the one that came with the E3D hotend.

The E3D works with heating cartridge and thermistor from Velleman without problems here.

I’ve been trying to fit my one today but had problems with the mount being a little out of place at the top of the extruder where the filament feeds in. And also how did you guys sort the power source for the fan?

Thanks.
Ross

Hi Ross,

it was planned to connect the 12V van of the E3D with a resistor to the 15V voltage of the printer’s power supply. While waiting for the resistor to arrive I connected it to it’s own power supply with selectable voltage, that I had here laying around. Well, the resitor arrived weeks ago, but I still have the van connected to it’s own supply, mostly running with 9V (less noise).

regards

walo

Thanks for the help Walo, I have managed to sort the fan now, I picked up a 30 ohm resistor earlier and it works fine! Looking forward to having a play with the new hotend now!

Thanks.
Ross

Latest update: LED strips.

Recently some multicolour LED strips are installed in the plexiglass cover.
The LED lighting is both functional and attractive, hope you enjoy it.

I do not remember exactly which one I did use, but regarding the specs both thermistors are pretty standard Semitec 100K EPCOS B57560G104F.

Here is the datasheet:
