Motors are not moving anymore - eeprom issue [solved]

Hi,

after several printing the motors are not moving anymore…LED is not on as well. I changed all drivers with new once but even this doesnt work. Only the fan I can start as well all heatings.

Any idea? Is it the board or are all 3 motors defect? How can I check board or motors?

Thank you!

Andreas

At first, check the 15v supply.
If that is ok remove all motor connections and try to connect the printer in repetier
Does that work without any error messages in the log?

Hello,

I checked 15V and 5V - they are working.
I checked communication - I can start heatbed heating and nozzle heating without any problem.
I checked nozzle ventilator - it can be controlled by switching it on and off manually.
I measured stepper motors resistance - low resistance on pin 1–2 and 3–4, high between 2–3 (seams to be ok).

but I’m still not get the stepper motors to move. Remember, it worked for several month already and I also changed meanwhile the polo boards (incl. voltage check and adjustment 0.4xx).

Any idea what to check further more?

Thank you!!

Below the send/receive messages while printing and while manual move (but motors are not moving even that they are attached)

Just a guess, did you change the firmware?

I updated the firmware as well just to see if the board is still running…

As it works beside moving the step motors…any further idea?

The firmware update might be the cause of the trouble.

Did you use Arduino Version 1.0.6 to compile and flash it?
If you used any higher version that might cause strange behaviour due to some library issues in the newer arduino versions.

Hello,

thank you for your constant support.

Yes, I used 1.0.6 for updating. Please note that it even didn’t worked before the update. I just did it to overwrite possible software issues.

Seams I have to buy a new board… :frowning: maybe check if it still has some guarantee…

Regards,
Andreas

Do i get you right?
ALL motors don’t move?
Does any motor have noticable torque when powered?

Check the screws at the blue connector on the board.
Make sure they are tight.
Remember these machine vibrate a lot they could have come loose.
Check the screws at the blue connector on the board.

Also a good point!
On my machine the whle svrew terminal came loose due to bad solder joints on the controller pcb.

Hi,

I started the printing job…bed and hotend getting hot and after reaching the target values I can see the moving commands but still the motors are without power. Easy to move. So, X-,Y-, Z- and extruder motor are without power. Only ventilator could be started.

Checked the input voltage…as well during the process just a little above 15V (screws are fixed).

Thank you!

What Voltage do you measure on the input terminals of the stepper drivers (Vmot pin)?

Hi,

I measured about 15,4V…

Well, quite strange.
The driver boards get sufficient power and no movement at all?

Are there any error messages in the repetier log when you try to move the motors?
Like brownout, mintemp, maxtemp or error 999?

Can you post a complete log from conneting the printer in repetier to manual motor movents?

Is this the right log, I’m using OctoPi:
(Extruder wasn’t heated)

Looks like everything is ok in the log.

Can you try to connect the printer to your PC directly and monitor what is does then?

Do the red Led’s next to the stepper drivers light up (flash) when you try to move the motors?

I didn’t checked with the PC yet.

The LEDs are not flashing when trying to move motors.

If the LEDs don’t flash the stepper drivers get no stepping signal.
Try connecting the printer directly to a pc to see what happens then.

This might be a firmware issue.
Which firmware does your machine currently run?

I used the firmware installed from the beginning were it operated. After starting of the problems I had a firmware issue in mind as well and updated to FIRMWARE K8200 MARLIN V2. But dosn’t worked either.

Should I test and go back to Merlin V1?

With connecting to PC directly do you mean using Reptier??
I used the firmware installed from the beginning were it operated. After starting of the problems I had a firmware issue in mind as well and updated to FIRMWARE K8200 MARLIN V2. But dosn’t worked either.
That might be the issue. Did you pay attention to use Arduino Version 1.0.6 to flash the new firmware? → arduino.cc/download.php?f=/arduino-1.0.6-windows.exe
Using any newer version will lead to unpredictable results, as it doesn’t compile the velleman firmware versions correctly.
Should I test and go back to Merlin V1?
If you don’t have the LCD mounted this might be worth a try. I’m not sure if the LCD capable firmware will work withot LCD mounted.
But AFAIK it normally “should” work.

Yes, try the latest repetier host from here : repetier.com/downloads
