Z Stop Behaviour

Tested X and Y stops out OK no prob.

Z stop test:
…‘As soon as you have pressed this button the Z CARRIAGE will move towards the micro switch that your finger is
resting on. Quickly press the micro switch. If the micro switch is working correctly the Z CARRIAGE will stop.
If the bed has stopped the micro switch wiring for the Z AXIS is correct.’

bed?? surely extruder arm/beam

I’ve got different behavior:

Press Z home and extruder arm descends. Momentary press the Z micro switch the motor reverses and go up for approx 5mm and then descends again (call that the second decent) defo. more than 5mm.

If i depress the microswitch again on the second decent then the motor stops straight away.

In a weird way this double hit of the micro switch effectively finds the home but is it normal behavior programmed into the firmware or is the manual is wrong or a wiring problem.

Wiring:
removed the z stop plug (3 terminals middle wire snipped) from controller board.
Put a continuity tester across the plug end terminals and there was continuity.
Press the microswitch to break the continuity

thanks

I went on further with the build and the behavior described above is normal. It all makes more sense once
you get into Chapter 3 Calibrating the Printer.
