Z stepper drive board cooked :(

hey guys my printer decided to randomly stop out the blue,

a smell descended into the room of which i immediatley isolated the printer, when i inspected the main board i noticed a driver board looking very well… cooked.

is this a warranty situation or? printers only been going a few months, and voltages were all checked and correct when built. checked the others after and theyre all the same still

printer no longer has a Z axis movement, so pretty much gves away where the problem lies, would be suprised that the z axis was the one to go though as would have thought it would have had the least strain on it.

anything i should look for before i figure out where to get hold of another as dont fancy plugging another in if itll pop again a few months down the line

also could anyone tell me if these would be a suitable replacement,

ebay.co.uk/itm/5x-DRV8825-St … d#shpCntId

seems a bit overkill having them last 3 months and having to pay £30 each from a velleman distributor

cheers
luke

Thanks for the reply and the Info there pal, sent a ticket off last night so should hopefully hear something back, may have to address the board cooling issue (seen a few mods on here for those
)

May take the extruders drive board out for now and use it on the z axis to keep me going, would be down to 1 extruder for a few days but hey ho, dead happy with how the printers performed so far won’t let something so small put me off
