Z-axis calibration

I’ve just finished assembling my printer. When trying to calibrate the z-axis I stumble upon a problem. After adjusting the height at the home position the head moves barely in the x-direction. Probably the scale is off by a factor of 10 in the latest firmware.

I’ll try to load a previous version to check this and/or get the printer working.

That didn’t work.

The printhead moves only a bit, estimated 1/10th of the printable area. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to solve it?

Did you use arduino 1.0.6 to upload the firmware? Newer versions have some issues.

Thank you very much, I used 1.6.3.

After trying 1.0.6 the problem persists though.

Solved. I overdid the tension on the belts and the xy-alignment probably wasn’t too good. I redid the belts and pulleys and used the distance between the rods themselves instead of the back and side panels. Now everything is smooth.

Axis alignment is indeed the main issue when building the printer. Happy printing
