I’m trying to complete the K8200 assembly. I’m stuck in Chapter 03 Calibrating the printer. Z-axis and x-axis movement is ok, however y-axis movement is sturdy.
when I press the Y arrows in the repetier software the bed sometimes moves and sometimes not. When I turn off power and move the bed with my hand it feels not to be moving smoothly.
It seems that there is too much tension on the black belt. I tried to loosen the tension (that was not a smart move because I had to remove print bed in order to be able to fix it again). Anyway after some time everything is back in it’s place but the tension is still to high I believe.
also I tried to increase the calibration voltage to 0.55 in stead of 0.425.
I know this may sound crazy but check the screw that holds the pulley to the motor make sure it’s tight.
Check the bearing on the other end of the belt make sure it’s not to tight and can turn freely.
I found the problem and thought I wanted to share it here.
Indeed the belt was to tight, it the print bed did not move smoothly by hand either.
The problem was L-shaped aluminum part that fixes the beaing to the frame. There are two pre-drilled holes one that fixes the part to the wagon and one that fixes the bearing. This last hole was drilled at the bottom side of the part. That caused the bearing to sit to low so that belt could not pass. So, I drilled a hole myself but 1mm of center of the first hole. That caused to much tension on the belt.
I inserted a small ring and this lowered the tension and solved the problem.
