X-Axis doesn't home

Hello,

I have tried to home the X-axis using both Repetier and Octoprint but it won’t home. Y & Z home fine at the click of a button.

When I press the X-axis home button the X-axis moves approximately + 10mm (away from the home switch) and then shows as being at position ‘0’.

The motor and controller appear to be working fine as if I manually home the X-axis (unplug the printer power and move the table towards the switch) a print can be performed without any problems.

This can be a bit of a pain should I wish to pause a print part way through as if the table gets knocked at all I can’t re-home it to continue printing in the correct location.

The issue doesn’t appear to be software related as both Repetier and Octoprint give the same response.

What could be causing this and how would I go about resolving it?

P.s. Just thought I better add that I have tried swapping the X and Y driver boards around to see if it was one of them that was at fault.

This sounds more like an end stop error.

You should check the wiring.

Thank you Wrong Way,

I’ve just given the wiring from the switch a little wiggle and the axis is now homing again, I will strip the heat-shrink tomorrow and re-solder the joints on that wire tomorrow.

I did think about the switch earlier today but dismissed it as I was thinking of it being an open circuit that is closed by the switch, but I’m guessing the switch is a closed circuit opened by the switch allowing the controller to know a switch is connected.

Thank you again, the support offered on these forums is excellent.

Jim

Glad to hear it’s working
Enjoy!!
