Windows 7 64 bits Driver installation problem for PCSGU250

Have tried to install the PCSGU250 driver and the winusb new driver but can´t make it work.

I have tried on three different computers: two with win 7 64bits and an older one with Windows XP.

Have run out of ideas on how to continue.

Have read most of the threads related to this issue before posting this question.

The PCLAB2000lt_v1_12 installs correctly but only works on demo mode.

After installing the newer winusb driver I all ways get stucked with the following message:

"Update Driver Software - PCSGU250
Windows found driver software for your devide but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
PCSGU250
This device can not start. (Code 10).

The driver properties in the device manager provides the following information:

Driver Provider: Microchip Technology Inc.
Driver Date: 24-08-09
Driver Version: 1.0.0.2
Digital Signer: Not digitally signed.

Could it be that the Hardware of the PCSGU250 is defective? I just bought it and have never functioned correctly.

Any suggestion on how to continue?

Thanks in advance

In Windows XP it should be possible to use either one of the drivers.
Did you get any error message when installing the driver from the CD folder PCSGU250Driver to Windows XP ?

For windows 7 the WinUSB driver should be used.

It seems the driver information in the Device Manager is OK.

It is very strange why there is an error message when the driver is installed.

To go from the demo mode to the normal mode:

  • Select in the PcLab2000LT’s Options menu Hardware Setup and then PCSGU250.

Here is the procedure to update the driver in Windows XP:
Right-click My Computer, click Properties, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
In Device Manager, double-click “Custom USB Devices”
Double click “PCSGU250”
Click Driver tab.
Click the Update Driver button.
Choose No, not this time radio button and then click Next.
Choose the Install from a list or specific location (Advanced) radio button and click Next.
Choose the Don’t search. I will choose the driver to install radio button and then click Next.
Click the Have Disk button
Click the Browse button on the Install From Disk dialog box
Locate the driver folder.
Click the INF file that displays in the file list and click the Open button.
Click the OK button on the Install From Disk dialog box then click Next
If you’re prompted with a message “has not passing the Windows Logo testing…”, click the Continue Anyway button.

Yes. I got the same error. It installs completely but at the end it indicates code 10 error.

Ok. The PcLab runs smooth but only allows demo mode. When I try Options/Hardware Setup and select PCSGU250, the program gives me the following message.
  • No Hardware response
  • Please make sure that the USB cable is connected. I have tried with two different cables with no result.

Thanks for the details. I have just tried it with no result. Have just tried in another XP with same results. My view after so many issues is that the unit is deffective. Is it possible I do any additional test from my side or should I send it for repair?.. I just bought it in Madrid last Friday.

Thanks for your assistance.

Did you get the driver installed without any error message?
Have you tried both of the drivers (v1.0.0.6 and the WinUSB v1.0.0.2) with the same result?

Hi
Yes I have just retried again. Same result with both drivers.
In both cases it indicates “Installing Compatibility SW” … then it copies some dlls and brings at the end of the installation a message indicating:

“The software for this device has been installed but may not work correctly”.

and then the (Code 10) message.

1.0.0.6.
1.0.0.2.

Have just reinstalled both (after cleaning previous installations and following the guidelines for updating drivers).

In both cases: It says no digitally signed. Installs without error until reaching the last screen were it brigns the Code 10.

Any other suggestion? Could we find a way to see if the unit is deffective or not?

Thanks

The unit may be defective.

What should I do in order to return the unit for fixing? I will be in Madrid today and Tomorrow. should I go to the shop I bought it from and return it there? Could you provide a Return Authorization Number?
