Which kind of digital sensor? PNP or NPN?

Hello

Just got the board. Trying to figure out what kind of sensor to use as a digital input.

Also…how about VOLTAGE…can the VMA05 accept 12v input?

Ok. I did a little more research.

The documentation for the VMA 05 says that it accepts “open collector” inputs.
Please correct me if I am wrong but apparently this means NPN.

Also the prior post mentions 0-24vdc as acceptable INPUT voltage.

Yes, open collector inputs switch to GND, so they should be NPN.

I next had to remember how to check whether my bag of old (umarked) sensors has any NPN in the bunch.
