What is wrong ? Dont understand

I have tried to print the Power Switch Housing for the Vertex and when I print it alone it turnes out like this:

When I tried to print it with another part it in some magic way inherited the other parts qualitys. It looks like this: (Never mind the shifted layer it has been solved):

I have read but not fully understood the thread: viewtopic.php?f=62&t=14494 (Z steps 0,105 mm -> Why is first layer 0,20 set by default?) What I don’t understand is where these settings are made ?
Where do I see what the different settings causing the lack of material in the first picture and not the second ?
Is this in Repetier or elsewhere ?
I print from an SD-card, don’t know if that matters.

It looks that your nozzle is too far from the bed and the filament is not squeezed on it. The right distance is 0.2 mm (use a feeler gauge or a folder sheet of paper).

On the other hand you have shifting issues. Re-calibrate your X/Y axis (see in the Wiki).

Then why is my nozzle correct when I print two items ?

According to the assembly instruction it should 0,35mm or a double folded (4 layers) of paper. Tested both with paper and feeler gauge. Where does 0,2 mm come from?

As the extruded filament has a diameter of 0.35 mm if you set the nozzle-bed distance to 0.35 the filament wont be squeezed on the bed and it wont stick.
And this is assuming your bed is perfectly flat which is seldom the case and the distance can be even greater at some places.
The instructions are wrong about the distance. a sheet of paper folded once is enough.

OK, I’ll try that. Still don’t see how it can be OK with 2 parts printing.

Did you use Slic3r or CuraEngine in Repetier? Slic3r is set to use 3mm filament as default I think and has to be modified a bit to work, Cura is the one that works “out of the box”.
