What does this mean ? Message from Repetier

I’m installing a MK3 heat bed and found a good bracket to install the extra power supply ( thingiverse.com/thing:846157 ), however the bracket is 4 mm too wide so I modified it in Sketchup by cutting it in half, remove 4 mm and move them together. Saving it as an stl-file.

Now when I try to open it in Repetier I get the following message :

Can someone translate to a comprehencable language and tell me what I did wrong.

BTW the original unmodified bracket is no problem to open.

can you post your stl file ?
Seems it’s corrupted.
Did you exported your stl as binary or ascii ?

By the way, the error message means the read function of repetier encountered a end-of-file characters before the real end of file.

There is no stl file to publish cince I get the fault message befor the end.

I used ASCII, since it was default.

I tried to save as binary but then Repetier says its loaded but does not show me a figure at all.

Yesterday I draw a figure from scratch in Sketchup and that was possible to open in Repetier. Saved as mm and ASCII.

You must export your model to stl from sketchup, so you can post it here.
Did you try open your stl in MeshMixer or Netfabb ?

Sorry, my bad. I had the gcode in my mind.

I just realized, the stl-files that does not open is only 84 bytes big. No wonder it does not open.

Now the question suddenly changed to why does Sketchup not save properly ? It saved my self designed design.

Sorry, I don’t use Sketchup, openSCAD replies well better to my needs.

Any Sketchup guru here ?

Sketchup is not the best program to get clean stl files. Most often you have to repair them with Nettfab. To just cut an stl you’d better do it with Nettfab. Or Meshmixer, 2 softwares saving usable stls.

Is it a partially downloaded file? I had that error once and it was because the download hadn’t finished or got corrupted at some point.

I joined the Sketchup forum and soon learned that there is a checkbox when saving in stl-format. If checked it will only save what is selected. If unchecked it will save whatever you have drawn. Unfortunatly for me it was checked as default.
