What are those little plastic clips for

Hi,

I shortly bought this tiny instrument. I’m very pleased about it.

I got questions:

  1. There came 2 very little yellow plastic clips with it. I don’t know to use them correctly. What are they for?

  2. If putting the top of the probe into the testsignal hole (bay), it doesn’t stand firmly fixed in it. It moves. It’s a little bit too thin for the hole, so the signal gets interrupted when keeping it in the hand.

  3. In the paper manual there is a remark about the BNC-input: “Max 100Vp !” Does that mean I cannot connect a 230 VAC source (house-outlets)? Or does it mean, that I can connect 230 VAC, but using the probe x10 mechanical attenuator in the probe body? So the tension will be actually 23 VAC and still a good bit under 100 Vp-max. I must know that before I try to measure stronger voltage (in a normal outlet in a room).

Thank you for a reply.

  1. These are IC clips, to ease measurement on IC pins by preventing the touching of the adjacent pin.

  2. This is normal. In no way it has been designed to hold the probe. You need to hold it in place.

  3. For measurements on 230VAC, the probe must be set to x10 or you will destroy the scope.
NEVER measure on 230VAC with the power supply connected.
Please take extreme care when measuring on 230VAC. These voltages can kill. We do not recommend to measure on 230VAC if you lack skills, knowledge or experience.

Thanks for the warning.
