I live in a rather stormy region of north Italy. Unfortunately, and for two times already, the outdoor trasmitting unit of the WS3080 has been put out of operation by nearby ligntings. As a result, there is no more connectivity between the station and the indoor receiver unit. I guess it is not possible to replace the damaged chip. As I really consider the quality/price ration of this weather station very good, I am going to try again to install a third WS3080 or equivalent model. MY QUESTION IS: As the extra tensions induced by the lighting are the cause of the damage, is it possible with some expedient to reduce that risk? Would it wrapping the connecting wires with aluminium help? Any other suggestion is most welcome.
