VMA03 + Stepper (Nema23)

Hi, I would like to operate a stepper motor Nemar 23 with the shield VMA03.
My first board is already broken and I do not know why.

My stepper motor has a nominal voltage of 24-48V and a nominal current of 4.2A.

How to connect the Nemar 23 to the VMA03 board?

Is the board compatible with the stepper motor?

On the board I have an external voltage of 28V / 10A applied.

I think I can see the possible problem.

These are the specs of the VMA03

Specifications

2.5 A (max.) output current (each channel)
50 V (max.) external power supply input
used pins on an Arduino UNO™ board can be selected to accommodate for other stacked shields
dimensions: 75 x 55 x 30 mm / 2.95 x 2.16 x 1.18"

This is the spec you gave
and a nominal current of 4.2A

That’s right.
Here is an excerpt from the description from VellemanStore.

"The Velleman VMA03 is designed to drive a relay or stepper motor with your Arduino Uno ™. This module has (2) channels that can output up to 2.5 Amps when using internal power (from the Arduino®) or 6 Amps when using external power You can run (2) DC motors forward / backward or (1) bipolar stepper motor. Pins on the Arduino Uno ™ board can be used to stack other shields if needed. "
