VMA03 burnt, don't know why

Hi,

I tried to controll a 45W 24V DC-Fan with the VMA03. My external power source was a 24V 4A DC power supply. I wired it as discribed in the data sheet:

When I plugged in the 24V power supply the L298P and the big capacitor started to smoke heavily. I immediately plugged off the power supply but it was already too late.

Before I used the external power supply I tried the VMA03 with a 5V DC Motor and the provided test code and internal power source and it worked well.

I can’t figure out where my mistake is. Can you help me?
