Vma 404 - is the board fried?

I recently bought the vma404 module, DC-DC ADJUSTABLE VOLTAGE STEP DOWN MODULE LM2596S

The device fulfilled its purpose flawless - up to the last weekend, it stopped working at all.

The output voltage equals the input voltage, regardless how many revolution the little screw does.

Did I fry the board accidentally?

Is there a description for the circuit?
