VM201 sometimes turns to be the DNS server for my network!

Hi there,

Something irritating happend to me, a couple of times.

I have a router in my network, that has a DHCP server running.
DNS server is the (cloud based) GoogleDNS system, so I do NOT have a DNS server in my network.

My VM201 is connected to my network via an ethernetcable (via a 48port HP switch) to my LAN.
(fixed) IP = 192.168.2.75

For SOME reason (when, by accident VM201 gets disconnected from the power, and reboots when powersupply is reconnected) and my VM201 takes over DHCP from my local network-router!!!
The DHCP server becomes: 192.168.2.75 !!! and also DNS…

From that moment on, my network is getting totally NUTS, servers are not reachable anymore, etc.

Settings in my VM201 (Build: 1236, Build date: Sep 07 2012 08:56:42, TCPIP Stack: v5.42):
email features: OFF
DHCP = OFF
Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8

Anyone has this problem, or knows a solotion??

Best regards

Hi,

I think there is a firmware update for that.
You can download it from the link below.

I hope this helps.

WOW!!

Thank you VERY much!!
I upgraded the firmware.

I looked in the downloaded file archive and hoped to find some ‘changes’ documents, in order to find out WHAT has exactly changed/bugs fixed.

Is there such a document available??

Thanks in advance!!
