Hi,
I can connect from my laptop and Ipad mini to VM201 by typing the IP in the URL : 192.168.1.7x.
Now I want to try connecting from outside of my local network, I read the pdf from this link: velleman.co.uk/manuals/vm201r.pdf
I’m using BThome hub 2.0 and I do not know how to login to this router for configuration setups, usually with other Router you just type in 192.168.1.1 and it redirects you to router’s config, help needed…
You may need to download the manual for your router.
If an ISP provided the router (hub) for you you can call their help desk.
Since there are so many routers available it would be impossible for Velleman to support them all.
Found some info on BT home hub 2 in BT forum, reset BT home hub 2 to its default setting, enter to this address:
bthomehub.home—>“settings”—>“Port Forwarding”
From the Vm201 PDF manual:
velleman.co.uk/manuals/vm201r.pdf
Is the menu on the right hand side:
Drop down menu shows all the devices + MAC addresses connected to the Home hub, so choose VM201’s MAC address listed (also displayed on VM201’s LCD)
I have a big question mark, I would like to test VM201 outside my network and the ip on the LCd display is: 192.168.1.69 this is for local network, how do I obtain an ip so that I can access outside my local network?.
I checked this website: canyouseeme.org/ and the ip stated is: 86.171.93.2xx, I think that’s my BT home hub IP, If someone outside my network and key in 86.171.93.248:9760 in their browser URL will this switch Vm210 relays?
sorry for the newby questions, I’m not really good at this…
thanks,
You can set an username and password in the VM201 so only authenticated people can switch relays.
And yes the ip adress you see on that website is your external ip adress BE AWARE this can change overtime and is depending on your ISP.
You can use services like DynDNS or no-ip.org for keeping track of your external IP-address.
VEL760
I don’t think trigger port should be filled in
Ok I have erased the 9760 in the trigger port for both TCP and UDP.
Need someone to do a test for me, login to this ip address: 86.169.58.227:9760
Do not touch relay 7 and 8, the last 2 relays they are set with timers, the rest of them are ok.
I change the port to 80, and then in the browser I type the external ip address : 86.168.121.XX:80 and I was redirected to velleman. Why can’t I use 9760?
Do you have the means to let someone that you know with an IT background take a look? Networks are very hard to troubleshoot from a distance. Your IP address may change every day, one small setting may break the port forwarding, your provider may be blocking certain ports, etc.
For someone with an IT background it is very easy to configure
Why is that when I connect from outside my network, (port forwarding done) I end up with my browser trying to download something and finally do not get the web page of VM201? Any clue?
your external IP has changed probaly and you are connecting to someone’s server.
check your external ip with whatismyipaddress.com/ or similar website. you’ll have to do this from within your house

It was even more stupid than that : the port redirection should have been : port xxxx to port 80 (I was redirecting xxxx to xxxx). Thanks anyway for your time!
