VM201 and problem with Humax HD receiver

Hello,
I have a problem with the VM201 ethernetrelaiscard if i turn on the VM201 it works good but my Humax HD receiver can’t make a connection anymore with the internet if i turn of the VM201 everything works fine again! Can anyone tell me what goes wrong?

Thank you

Hi,

You might check for IP address duplication.
In other words the Humax and the VM201 may have the same address.

Hope this helps.

Thanks you for your response

Both have a unique IP address but the Humax sees the VM201 as a server instead of the router. In other words, the Humax wants connect to the VM201! Both the Humax as VM201 have a static ip address.

Just another guess since I don’t know all of your settings.
Is the VM201 IP address set the same as the gateway (router)?
Are the settings for the Humax (gateway, DNS, and other settings) pointing at the IP address of the VM201?

Sounds like you need to check all of the settings for each unit.

The VM201 has another ip adress than the router! That can’t be the problem.

Please read provious.
You need to check all of the settings on the Humax.
Unfortunately this is about the only thing I think of.

Please post the IP addresses of all three devices

These are the used IP addresses:
Windows PC: 192.168.178.22
Airport extreme router: 192.168.178.12
VM 201: 192.168.178.30
Humax HD receiver: 192.168.178.35
NAS: 192.168.178.23

DHCP is activated on the modem/router and i have given all the above components a fixed IP adress (static lease). The VM201 is connected directly to the modem router (Ubee) and behind the router/modem is the Apple Airport Extreme with the Humax HD receiver.

Settings of the VM201:
NETBios name: VM201
IP adress: 192.168.178.30
Gateway: 192.168.178.1
Sub: 255.255.255.0
DNS: From my ISP

With kind regards
Jeroen

And what gateway is set up in the Humax? Also 192.168.178.1?

Ok you have me confused.

You posted Airport extreme router: 192.168.178.12
But you said the gateway for the VM201 is 192.168.178.1
On most networks the gateway is the router.
So your Airport (router) should have an IP address of 192.168.178.1
Or the gateway setting for the VM201 should be 192.168.178.12

Now back to the original question what are all of the settings for the Humax?

No, he has a router with x.x.x.1 and FROM that router he connects to the Airport Extreme which is an access point for his Humax.
Nothing wrong so far.

Exactly, I have a modem/router from my internet provider and the airport extreme as an extra wireless AP router. Ip address 192.168.178.1 is the gateway address (LAN) of the modem/router from the ISP and the Airport Extreme is behind that router!
The Humax is on static ip and gateway address is 192.168.178.1 (the Ubee router / modem). As far as I can see, all settings are correct.

To be sure: your Airport Extreme operates solely as ACCESS POINT and NOT as ROUTER? When you would have configured your Airport Extreme as router, you can’t use the gateway of your modem and you can’t use the same 192.168.178.x adress range. If you configured it as a router (if possible, I’m not Apple minded) you should change that to Access Point.

Just as a test to hopefully get some direction of where the problem might be.
If you have an extra port on the Airport Extreame have you tried plugging the VM201 in to it?
I have downloaded the manual for it but do no see any setting to make it a bridge.
Have you tried to change the IP address of the VM201?

These are just suggestions and things to try.

Please let me know.
