VM116 / k8062 And Derivative touchdesigner DMX

Hi

I,ve fairly new to all this side of things, just to let you know.

I,ve been trying to get the Velleman usb controlled DMX converter to work with touchdesigner for ages with out much luck.

See here :
derivative.ca/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3545

So i seem to have narrowed it down to the fact that i cant get to VM116 to show up as a normal usb device on my PC.

Instead it shows up as an un-named human interface device.

The people over on the touchdesigner forum said that it should work with either FTDI Serial or
Generic serial, but can get touchdesigner to conect with the device on either one.

Is there a driver that i,ve missing that i should install to get this going.
I,ve tried running the K8062e.exe and it says
“There is the I/O routine for the K8062 USB Communication
This is not a stand-alone program”
Not sure what that means in plain english.

The Device works fine when I run the DMX_Demo.exe. I can get a light to work with it, and all seems well.
The problem is just getting it to show up in touchdesigner.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I,m using windows 7 aslo.

I’m sorry to say but the software you are using is designed for different DMX converter.
It will not work with the K8062/VM116.
The software you are using is using virtual COM port as an interface media between the PC and the DMX interface unit.
It is also using the hardware specific drivers.

The K8062/VM116 is using HID (Human Interface Device) USB device class driver. This driver and its installation files are included in Windows:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff538820(v=vs.85).aspx
Also the K8062/VM116 is using totally different communication protocol.
