Hi, I have a VM111 and cannot get it to run the install test.It says there is no programmer connected, it is . I have checked the connection with the serial cable twice; is there a driver or somthing that I have missed ? Ihave a 12v dc 500ma power supply and am using a emachines E4028 running XP.

If it is an unregulated power supply, then most probably it’s Ok (unregulated supply tend to give more than their specified output voltage).
Perhaps this is one step closer to the solution of your problem.
