I am running the 64 bit windows 7 - the cd included would not allow me the run the setup.exe file in the pc soft install folder.
I believe this to be because the cd is intended for 32 bit use.
I then downloaded the folder on the Velleman website containng the Version 4 (i believe this is supposed to be compatible with windows 7 64 bit). I copied the K8055D.dll file into my SYSWOW64 folder as instructed.
Upon connecting the board via the usb cable the power LED comes on and LED 8 flashes before staying on.
I then get a message saying USB DEVICE NOT RECOGINISED
Device manager shows a unknown device under Universal Serial Bus Controllers
Should the device not show up as a HID??
Are these problems because I have been unable to run and install the files on the cd or are they due to other issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are these problems because I have been unable to run and install the files on the cd
No, this is not the cause of the problem. There may be USB driver problem in the PC.
USB cable may be defective.
There may be a hardware or firmware problem on the VM110 board.
Can you test the board in other PC ?
You can return the board for check / repair.
Since posting I have managed to get the board to work. To do this I connected the cable to a 4 way usb adapter that runs at 1.1 speed however …
On disconnecting it can be extremely difficult to reconnect - I have just spend 2 hours getting a connection.
When i cannot get a conenction the error either shows the interface as an unknown generic usb or a user input device with an error.
I do not understand why it connects occasionally but then won’t for prolonged periods - this is very frustrating!!
I doubt this is relevant but the only times i can recall it connecting have been when the computer has been running off its battery.
I have also tried a different cable as you suggested but this doesn’t appear to making connecting any easier.
Any further advise on what a sensible next step would be will be greatly appreciated.
