I connected a 12 V DC power supply to the clamp and ground connectors of the WM110 board. At that moment nothing was connected to the other pins of the board.
After a second the Toshiba chip (IC4) got completely overheated.
I am afraid I have blown up the board.
What can be the reason why this happened?
Hope for someone’s reply.
No idea why that happened if you had right polarity of the 12V supply.
Just remove the IC4 and check if the board works OK with the demo software.
If OK then probably only IC4 is blown.
Is it true that changing the polarity can cause this problem?
I am not completely sure if the polarity was right the first time the connection was made.
You think this can cause a “fried” IC4?
Yes, the wrong polarity can cause the IC4 being “fried”.
