Vm100

Hi can anybody help! I have built the VM100 Amp it worked perfect. Then I accidently shorted the two speaker terminals together. It now blows the primary fuse every time you power it up. Can anybody tell me what components may have suffered to cause this fault. Although I am good at building these type of kits I am not a electrician but do understand what most components are. Thanks

We’d recommend to replace all transistors.
This is the fastest and most reliable way of troubleshooting this circuit.

Thanks for that

Would it be fair to say i’ts just maybe as cheap to buy the VM100 kit again or would be a lot cheaper to purchase all the transistors seperatley

Thanks again :unamused:

Transistors are not very expensive.
Sourcing them might be a problem.

Cheers for all that quick and efficient help. Going to buy another kit and put it down to an experience not to be forgotten.

Replaced all the Transistors as you recommended and now the VM100 is back up and running perfectly

I have connected this unit to 2 small 4ohm speakers could I also connect a small woofer speaker to give some base sound as the speakers being so small sound a bit tinny

If so were would I tap in that connection

Thanks for you time and help

We do not recommend to use an impedance lower than 4 ohm.

Sorry ment 8 Ohm not 4, can I still fit a small woofer

If the impedance is 4 ohm or more, then you can add a woofer.
Check impedance with multimeter.
