VM 100 Resistor Burnout?

Hi there!

Urgent problem here…I need this issue resolved before my boss sees whats happened! No pressure then!

We are using a Velleman VM100, and have connected the recommended 12030 transformer to same.

We connected a 230v 50Hz connection to the primary (blue and brown) coil on the transformer, and then connected the 2 secondary coils (red & yellow and Blue & Black) to the VM100, but we ended up damaging 4 resistors on the VM100 unit! The output from the transformer is approx. 33v.

Can you offer me any advice on why this is happening please?

Thanks in advance
Pearse

Is it a first time connection ?

Because all units are tested it could be a connection problem.
Anyway the module is probably destroyed, you need to send it back via your local Velleman dealer.
When the resistored are burn out, also the transistors will be defective.

Thanks VEL456,

For my simple mind, how do I know which terminal on the 2 secondary circuits is 0v and which is 30v? We assumed the first colour on the instructions was 0v.

Is there any rule of thumb that should be followed?

Thanks in advance.
