Velleman K8200 assembly tips

Hi all,

I’d like to share with you my thoughts I came across when I was assembling the printer.
Please check my post here: http://ljwinkler.blogspot.ie/2014/01/velleman-k8200-assembly-tips.html
I hope it will be useful.

I’m more than happy to answer all your questions!

Hi lwinkler,

just two comments:
I think you ment “brass” instead of “copper”, and your heatbed might perhaps need an additional thermal barrier (cork tile or similar) below the cardboard insulator to improve heat transfer to the mirror.

Cheers,
kuraasu

Thanks kuraasu,

The nozzle is brass - you are right, thanks for pointing it out (it is updated now).
However, in the manual they clearly said “copper barrel” but it is too gold to be copper

Thanks

Just a quick follow up on the temperatures.

The first image shows heat distribution on the mirror bed.
You can see the big X of cooler areas where the aluminium frame is located. The temperature varies between 51C in the corners and 65C in the centre.
As you suggested - I may put a thin insulation layer as the bottom of the cardboard is roasting hot (2nd img)
