I came upon this unit and was thinking of buying it ,but would like to know if this could be used to check for clipping/distortion point in a high wattage car audio spl system appox 5000 watts plus and also check to see what volume level my car deck clipps/distorts at and if so the procedure ,Thanks in advance
Yes, you can measure clipping at levels up to 5000W and beyond, however, this is not a distortion meter.

The SPL system is wired down to 0.5 ohms and sometimes 1 ohm will this be ok for the unit as I see in the link in the previous post its measuring rms @ 8 ohms ?
The minimum setting is 2 ohm, so you will have to do a manual calculation.
