Using HPS140 to set car stereo amplifier

Hello,

I am planning on using my newly purchased HPS140i to set the gains on my new car stereo amplifier. I have never used an oscilloscope before so I am unsure about the exact process. I see that on the probe there is a setting for x1 and x10. Which of these would I use while testing the amp? This will be AC voltage if that matters.

The output of the amp should not be any more than 300 watts RMS while I am testing it. I will also be doing the same with the headunit that is in the car.

Also, is there any way to get this oscilloscope to display the frequency of the signal?

Is there anything else I should know so that I don’t break the scope?

Thanks for your help!

‘x1’ will be fine for measuring on the speaker outputs of an amplifier.
If you freeze the screen, you get the marker-function, which allows you to measure frequency (please see manual).
