Using a K8055 to control 2 stepper motors

As part of a robotics project (lcav.blogspot.com) I’ll need to be able to control 2 stepper motors individually and probably simultaneously.

However I’m more of a software guy myself and I’m unfamiliar with how to operate stepper motors safely. Each motor will be driving a simple caterpillar-track so the robot will end up looking a bit like a tank.

Anyway, I’m looking around for wiring diagrams / schematics for connecting stepper motors to a K8055 board. I’m concerned that if I tried to design such a circuit myself I’d end up frying my USB bus or setting my motherboard on fire or something equally nasty :slight_smile:

Has anyone done this before or know anywhere that is likely to have such schematics?
