Usb dmx k8062 not seen by pc...tried 2 pc's winxp

I built 2 kits and both behave the same.
The stand alone test increments the brightness on all outputs.

When I connect to a pc it is not seen…ie no device found in hardware manager.

The power light comes on when plugged into usb the the dmx light blinks a few times then stays on solid.

How can I go about diagnosing this. I tested all mysolder connections do not ohm to any nearby ones except the ones that match the diagram.

The new online prints use a 4mhz xtal and mine has a 6mhz xtal,also my kit did not include a r9 resistor.

Everything else seems to be OK but the crystal frequency - should be 4MHz.
There is no need for R9 in this version.

My kit did not come with a 1500 ohm resistor for r9. I bought some and installed r9 and now it talks to the pc.
Obviously there are several versions of this kit.
Looks like I got an older set. Kinda sucks

K8062/VM116 has now a new firmware version, 3.0
V1 and V2 comes with a PIC16C745, 6MHZ XTAL and R9
V3 comes with a PIC18F2550 controller, 4MHZ XTAL and does not need R9.
LD2 must flash 3x and must be stay ‘OFF’ until DMX software is started when you plug-in the USB cable.
V3 has an improved stability for some fixtures.
All version use the same software.
