Updating software and firmware

Hey guys, I am totally new to 3D printing, and have gotten started on a few prints with my K8200.

In the manual it specifies that you use an old version of repetier host when setting up the printer, I am wondering if it is OK to update to the newest version and if there is anything I need to check or be aware of or change when updating the software?

Also would it be preferrable with a firmware update on the board?

And also, I’ve been searching around alot on this printer, and I find all sort of things to do with it, but there are always some changes in the Arduino programming, but I cant find any .ino file to edit anywhere, or do I have to download it from somewhere maybe?

Thanks

The marlin firmware for the k8200 can be found on the Velleman site. There is a link to it in the instructions.
I currently use the latest repetier (1.0.6) which runs fine. So, feel free to use it.
