I want to built a simple toy phone with the following functions:

  1. pick up the handset (= closing a contact) - recorder starts playing with the first MP3 file
  2. hang on the handset (= opening the contact) - recorder stops playing
  3. picking up the handset again - recorder starts with the first MP3 file again - etc…

My question is: is this function possible just with switching on and off the power supply?
That means: will the recorder always start with the first file when the power is switched on?
How long does it take from switching on and start playing?

Yes, the unit will always start playing the first file when power is applied.
Sorry, it is not possible to determine the time between power on and start of playback, this depends on track length, USB stick size etc…
Usually a couple of seconds.
