Support material - which slicer does it best on so on?

Using blue painters and PLA sticka like there is no tomorrow, always ruining the tape. That’s ok, tape is cheap and cheerful.

But support material in Cura is almost impossible to remove. Any tips here? It’s really kind of silly how hard it sticks.

Any tips here would be useful.

Thanks!

support in pla is harder to remove then abs, but if you use a slicer where you can edit your support like in Simplify3D you can make it easyer to remove or even delete support on parts where you won’t really need it.

Yes, Simplify…need to gather ££…

But say in Cura, what is the lightest type of support, any settings to play with?

You could also try netfabb, I think you have many more support settings there.

You can also make customable support with Meshmixer (and it’s free)

IMO, Simplify3D does not justify 149USD!!! Yes it solve some problems with supports and filament waste but it does not justify 149USD!

My advice to you: before wasting 149USD try Autodesk Mesmixer. It has a somewhat learning curve but it’s easy to use for creating supports. Also you can find alot of tutorials in youtube. Oh and did i mentioned IT’S FREE!! ??
Alot of companies use it for their works.

Yes I have tried Meshmixer in the past, it’s ok I guess.

I really hope Cura will fix customizable support in the future.

Cura isnt the best when it comes to support, but I find it usually fairly easy to remove. I like slic3r better, but it has its own problems. But you may be overextruding, which might also explain why your print are glued forever to the blue tape.

Have you printed the 20mm calibration cube at 100% infill ?

Give it a try. If you are overextruding, it will show up pretty clearly

Cura makes reasonable support. It’s import not use grid - use lines. Then it generally comes off pretty easily.

Yes, I’ve found that setting max 15% and lines makes for reaonably easy to remove support.
