Step 7 assembly of the base frame

The sequence of pictures is WRONG.

When installing the x axis platform it is necessary to instal one m5 square nut in the left and two in the right channel AFTER sliding the first rod and its end supports into the side extrusion but before sliding in the second set of rod and end supports. If not, then the last extrusion will not fit as the m5 nuts will be in the way and also there will be no captive m5 nuts in the right place for the later step.

In summary the three m5square nuts (one on left and two in right) must rest between the two rod support blocks.

I don’t know what “Step 7” stands for.

I assembled the base frame the other day following the online instructions.

There it is perfectly clear that the three nuts shall be inserted between the two rods.

I think Harbyshep was using the complete manual that can be downloaded.
I ran across the same thing when I built my second printer.

I downloaded the pdf manual and yes, the second picture on page 96 is misplaced, whereas the online manual is correct.

Must be annoying to have to go back and start over :frowning:

(I still can’t find any reference to “Step 7” as in the subject, is there yet another manual?)

I have also been using the downloaded manual and can confirm that this error exists.

The error is actually in Stage ‘003 - ASSEMBLING BASE FRAME’. Whilst the sequence of illustrations on the web is correct, both the Stage 3 PDF download - “http://www.k8200.eu/downloads/files/k8200/manual/en/en_003%20–%20ASSEMBLING%20BASE%20FRAME.pdf” - (see Page 20 of 30) and the full assembly manual - k8200.eu/downloads/0/assembl … 200_uk.pdf - (Page 96 of 527) have two illustration out of sequence, compared to the web, showing both rods installed in the frame before the nuts are added.

Fortunately, the error is soon apparent as the two nuts on the right side of the frame prevent the fourth side of the base frame from being installed flush.

Yeah I was pretty confused by that at first. Also there’s incorrect colour codes in the wiring section of the full download.

Hi guys,
I got my printer 2 days ago and have only been able to spend 4 hours so far, but also found the problem with the square nuts. Reading ahead in the assembly manual allowed me to see what they are for, so I realised where the mistake is.
Please supply more info on the wiring colours - I am not there yet, but would appreciate a heads-up!

Wally

We recommend to follow the online manual.
I recently built one myself. And followed the online manual without problems.

I don’t know if ntoff has found any major issues with the wiring colours but I have noticed that both the online instructions and download incorrectly refer to connection of the ‘red’ wire on the stop switch connectors. This should read ‘orange’ as the instructions earlier show the red wire being removed from the connector.

If Velleman are actively maintaining the documentation, can I suggest that it would be helpful if you could you add version control to the documents as either a version number or an issue date.
