Standard, big extruder gear

Hello,

I wanted to print the large extruder gear so when it is worn-out, i can replace it. On thingiverse I can only find Fishbone gears or diagonal gears. But not the standard, big, straight one.

Someone that has a file of this gear?

Thx,

Kenny

Does anyone know what material the original gear is? ABS?

Could be something completely different. The open electronics blog mentiones Delrin (POM) as the material for the first printers, and that they switched to some other “plastic” later on.

I’m still looking for the exact material that they use in the original gears for a task in my studies. I already mailed Velleman but no response at all…

Sorry, we have no trace of any email conversation.
Anyway, our plastic parts are molded ABS.

Did anyone on the forum changed the original gear with an 3D-printed one yet? My original gear is wearing down a bit (teeth are clearly getting sharper). So I’m thinking about using a printed one, in theory it should work if the printer is printing without to much error (wobbles etc…). Just checking if someone did it already to hear their part of the story before I do it
