This is the VM8201 bottom enclosure, with 20% infill and 3 top layers. Seems kinda like the first top layer “fell down” in the infill a bit or something. What settings could I mess with to improve this?
Thanks
edit: kept an eye while printing a test cube now and it seems like the second top layer didn’t get enough filament or something? it had some areas with gaps.
It happens when using a low infill parameter (less than 0.4). The gaps are wide and the first solid layer doesn’t stick to the honeycomb. And with a bad first layer the next ones are bad too.
To avoid this, the best solution is to lower the speed drastically (try manually while printing to get the best speed). You can also increase the extrusion width for the solid infill.
Thanks, got it a lot better now. Increased top layers to 4, slowed down the top layer print, increased infill to 25% and switched to latest version of slic3r (not sure if that mattered). http://i.imgur.com/fxErZwK.jpg
