Small air heater to prevent PLA from breaking

One time I had some trouble with sticking a new PLA lead in the hole of the extruder because the PLA was ofc bend a little bit. When I was talking with somebody about this he told me that I could use a hair dryer which makes the material soft and flexible.

Now I use a hair dryer for 2 purposes, I use it to drastically speed up the heating of the printbed, and I use it on my PLA after printing so it won’t snap.
A usefull expansion would be an automated air heater of some sort which heats the PLA after a print, to relax it a bit so it wont spring.

Would this be a practical Idea?

It is a good idea; and here a simple solution is shown. In my system the spotlight is switched on if the extruder has reached his temperature. A dimmer is recommanded to have a better control about the heating.

Very nice idea, I try it with the end of a 2kg PLA rol, kind of PLA breaking madly every meters !!! now it’s a great success… no breaks -D
Thanks for the tip
