I have had a similar problem with X-axis shifting.
I have previously printed a few small (1cm square) objects, but i’m now trying to print a larger phone case and after about an hour the X-axis shifts by about 5cm.
I have checked all the rods and carriages and they are running smooth, I don’t hear any strange sounds that would indicate the stepper motor struggling and now i’m at a loss of what to try next?
I had that also going on… reason was i was printing from my computer. It couldnt feed the printer Quick enouph with info also the reason why i started using the microSD instead. Not a single issue with that again
The main reason for shifting layers is an incorrect or insufficient X/Y alignment. And also belts too tight. Or dirty X/Y rods. Or overheating step drivers…
I had checked all the belts etc and thought they were loose enough but i’ve undone the belt bolts a bit more and now (fingers crossed) it seems to be much better! So thanks for the help!
Printing goes better now that we checked the belts and the axis. Still I feel there is an inconsistency in printing.
Some prints are really nice but others (very simple) ones come out plain ugly (like guitar plectrums with embossed relief text).
I stil cannot predict that every print comes out right…
The printhead sometimes moves on both X and Y axis to one corner and then lock up.
The printhead also shifts during printing.
Even my Z axis goes wild and shifts down all the way.
I print from SD and from computer. In both cases this is what is happening.
It seems to occur more the last prints, this problem wasn’t there in the beginning.
I wil check the belts and clean the axis. Although I think it has a different cause.
