Hi, in the case where I only need the second colour/extruder in the first few layers, in there a way to tell the slicer it can ‘inhbit’ the second extruder?
Because now the second extruder is used every single layer, making structure around the object and contaminating the first extruder print; making a mess.
Would it be an option to start using the G-code generated by the slicer in dual head setup, and replace the dual head code by the G-code for single head setup for the remainder of the model? Of course Gcodes must be of identical positionned model, and transfer must be on the successive layers…
Everything is possible but you’ll have to edit the G-code by hand. No automatic procedure can do it for you.
Actually you don’t need the skirt and the heap used by the 2 head setup. Only the switch head sequence. So you can remove the corresponding code but it would be kind of a pain. So From a dual head G-code I would just extract the sequence switching the heads and incorporate it in a one head g-code.
If understand well your problem is constructing wipe tower and ooze shield make more mess than usefull.
In this special case, maybe a simple idea is to print two extruder settings but without wipe tower and ooze shield (uncheck the corresponding box in settings). Normally, second extruder will stay hot but will not be used (as in your case he is only used for those structures).
Additionnaly (but maybe not usefull) you could retract filament by hand once this extruder have finish to avoid he make blops of plastic everywhere (you have no structure to avoid that… ).
