I’m building the Ignition Kit, K2543. The kit’s transistor is held down with a bolt that passes through the transistor. A mica film and a small plastic washer insulate the bolt from the transistor, but the bolt is still very close to grounding out the transistor.
Can I replace the metal bolt with a nylon one? I am using the bolt to help mount the unit in an enlosure, and a nylon bolt would prevent any “shorts.”
Is it possible that a nylon bolt isn’t strong enough, or would fail from vibration of the vehicle?
