Repetier host, Dual head

Hello! I just recently got myself a new extruder head, mounted it all correctly and using repetier host I made sure it was working alright by manually extruding some plastic.

I went on to update the settings on the printer:

And changed all the settings I could find in repetier host and the slicer about single/dual extruders. Here are some pictures of my settings:

The last one here I don’t really understand, it’s inside the slicers settings and it asks if I should use extruder 0 or 1 for the supports, but in the previous settings they are clearly named 1 and 2. ( 0=1 and 1=2 perhaps? )

So I always assumed I decided which extruder to use from which extruder i picked under object group ( Second picture. ) and no matter which I pick there it always prints from the first extruder ( the original one )

Am I forgetting some settings here, I don’t understand what I have to do to get it to print from both or just the second extruder

When you’re printing with a single extruder (not both at the same time), you must chose “Vertex Single head” in Slicer/print configuration. And you select which extruder you want to print with in Object placement.

Alright, that seems to work as with my test the second extruder is heating up. But how would I go by using both extruders then? Because I just did a test on that aswell, having two object and selecting different extruders for them and sliced it up as " Vertex dual head " but again only one extruder started heating up. I stopped at that point cause I figured since the other one didn’t heat up it wouldn’t be used ( Or does it heat up on-the-fly ? )

EDIT: I also got some very poor printing results from the new extruder… I had similar quality before and I fixed that with calibrating the platform, but I did that literally a minute ago!?
( The dot in the middle is just me interrupting the print. )
I also got some very poor printing results from the new extruder…
From the looks of it, your nozzle is too far from the bed (0.2mm is a correct distance). And check if the 2 nozzles are at the same distance.
Or does it heat up on-the-fly ?
Yes and no. The first time the 2nd head heats up when it’s needed. Later they both stay hot and are oozing like hell hence the oozing shield.
I’ve never tried to print 2 different objects at the same time with the 2 heads. So I don’t know if it’s possible or how it works.

If you didn’t generate an ooze shield and wipe tower in the preview, chances are you haven’t generated a print for two nozzles.
