Rebooting while printing?

The printer stopped and gave me this output. Looks like a clean reboot, but I see no error information here helpful for troubleshooting.

Happens every time I print now. It seems like a mere question of time.

It looks like your printer did a sudden reset. Avoid printing from Repetier. Print directly from the SD card. The Usb cable is very sensitive to noise and the printer to power surges. Avoid switching neon lights or electric motors on while printing. Or use a net filter or an UPS.

Well, it was static, only printing when it reboots. The power surge I don’t really buy. I have other Arduinos and beaglebones up and running, so I think we can cross that of the list.

About the USB cable. Can noise affecting the USB connection trigger reboot of the printer?

Ok,

This time I got some more info out of it:

10:29:24.843 : Error:Line Number is not Last Line Number+1, Last Line: 1
10:29:24.843 : Resend: 2

Just to update the issue in this thread.

While printing from SD as suggested, problem remains. It reboots for no apparent reason.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this one?

Perhaps related, the update to 1.4 dual head is giving me a headache beyond belief.

I’m affected by this issue. viewtopic.php?f=60&t=13916&start=15

However, I got 1.4 on the board at last. Wonder if there might be a correlation between the two.

Following the steps in the above link, still do not get me a clean update with error checking of the upload.

Jumper on, IDE ver 1.0.6 etc is in compliance.

The file wasn’t saved entirely. Slice it again and save the file to SD once again and retry. I’ve had this going on in octopi a few times.

Well, its saved alright and its the same pattern that happens if I print from SD or via PC.

I transferred it from the PC to the SD, then move SD over. It starts printing until the printer reboots. Quite annoying.

Trying to see how to burn a boot loader from either due or mega to the printer. Tempting to buy a new board for the printer.

Check if the reset button of the LCD is not pressed against the frame. It might be triggered by the vibrations when printing. If this one is OK disconnect the reset button from the controller board.

You should check all of the connections on the power supply.
Make sure they are tight.

Hi guys,

The reset is free of the frame and the other reset button is disconnected.

Power cables are ok. Its not like it looses power, it just reboots, kind of like a computer that gets a kernel panic.

I have problems uploading 1.4 to the board, as per other threads that equally are unsolved and several other “odd” things happening, like filament retarding when you press start, the reboots while printing, so I have ordered a new main board. burning a boot loader onto the board didn’t work.

I have modified it to work with a heat bed and the printer just rocks now, other than the issues mentioned.

I just need to be sure the main board is ok, so we are not chasing ghosts.

I have touch mine a few times and it did not like the static shock and rebooted.
Are you touching it while printing?

No, it’s sitting on the desk besides me while I’m working. There are no external vibrations at anything else affecting it while printing.
