Re: K8055 - read digital output using digital input

This will show up my limited electronics skills:

Can I safely connect a ‘feedback’ line from (say) Digital Output 1 to Digital Input 1, which I could then read to confirm the current
digital output status, AND connect a small relay (<100mA) to Output 1 AT THE SAME TIME - would I need to protect it with an em feedback diode?

Doh, if I used a DPDT relay I could use one pole for the control and the other for the feedback! :unamused:

You may do it either way. There is no risk to generate dangerous voltage spikes in the relay coil if you connect the coil between the CLAMP terminal and the digital output. There are suppression diodes inside the transistor array between the digital outputs and CLAMP terminal.

Surely the safest way to do this is to use the other relay contact pair for the digital input.
