Problem Updating firmware

I can successfully verify the firmware but when I try and upload it I get:

avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_ReceiveMessage(): timeout
avrdude: stk500v2_getsync(): timeout communicating with programmer

Afterwards it would say it has done uploading. What does this mean? Was it successful?

Right now repetier won’t connect to the printer because there is no start signal despite the Baud rate being set to 250000, might these two things be connected.

You can find the instructions to update the firmware here
http://www.k8200.eu/manual/printing/?c=007
Make sure you short the Jprog pins
Use the Arduino IDE 1.0.6 or lower
You can find it here.
https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/OldSoftwareReleases#previous
In the printer setting make sure Reset on Connect is set to Disabled

Hello, did U try to uncheck or check “reset on connect” option in repetier ? Arduino 1.0.6 not more is needed to donwload firmare correctly

I was already aware of all those points regarding updating the firmware. The only thing I wasn’t aware of was the “reset on connect” option, I wasn’t able to find it, is it on the later versions of repetier?

Also, my printer did briefly start working and not return the no start signal error message but now for some unknown reason is doing it again. Why would this happen?

hello, “reset on connect” is the check box on printer control, “connexion” panel.
Maybe ur USB cable has problems, did youi try with another cable ?

Before you go to the latest version of Repetier try this version that has been modified for the K8400.
http://www.vellemanusa.com/downloads/files/vertex/software/vertex-3d-printer-repetier-host-1-0-6.zip

I have just tried a different cable and I still have the same problem, it was working briefly but now is saying no start signal again. I couldn’t find the reset on connect option on the connection panel, are you sure it’s the same for all versions of repetier?

Edward,
0.95F does have the reset on connect.
Also if you are just starting to print with the K8200 it would be better to use the software in the link above as it is setup for the K8200. After you use it for awhile then upgrade.
