we have the PCScope PCS500 and the PC Function Generator K8016. We use the PC-Lab2000SE Software and the Operation system Windows XP.
As administrator the Software runs without any problem. If we are going to run this software under a user account without administrator privileges, we get the message: “Could not open the DriverLINX driver. Please run INSTALL_DRV.exe to install the driver”!
After running the INSTALL_DRV.EXE (as administrator) and reboot the system, the message is the same.
The only way the DriverLINX kernel mode driver can be used under a normal user account is for the driver to be installed and started during bootup of the PC.
…
Thus if you intend to use the driver on a normal user account, make sure it is installed and configured to start “automatically” at bootup.
To put the DriverLINX start at the bootup do following:
Go to Device Manager
(Go to Control Panel – Systems – Hardware – Device Manager,
or go to System Properties – Hardware – Device Manager)
Click “View” and “Show Hidden Devices”.
From the Non-Plug and Play Drivers list locate the DriverLINX Port I/O Driver and double-click it.
At Driver tab, select Startup Type as Automatic.
Click OK.
Change back to the normal user privileges and Reboot.
If does not help then:
Enter regedit: Click Start, Run and type regedit and click OK.
In regedit look under:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
There should be a “DLPortIO” key (folder) in there.
If there is, delete it, reboot and reinstall DLPortIO by running the Install_drv.exe.
Enter regedit again.
under:
“HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\dlportio”. Change the Start value to “1” and reboot.
