Printer software thinks the extruder is 140C when off?

Interesting new problem with my printer. Repetier is determined that my extruder is at 141C when its off. If I begin heating up the extruder, the temperature reading will not move until it passes 140 and with go up to any set temperature without issue. If i turn it off, it will show it cooling down just like it always did. Once it hits 140 it won’t read any lower, but it is still cooling and I can touch it no problem after a few minutes.

I tested the thermistor with my multimeter and got a 99.4 Ohm reading, which seems to be fine to me. No wiring faults visible and the temperature (when heated) is correct. I measured it with a secondary thermometer. It prints perfectly fine as well.

I’m starting to think it’s an issue with repetier or the firmware, not the hardware. Any ideas or has anyone encountered this before?

I Just installed an E3D V6 Hotend and installed the thermistor it came with. do I need to edit the firmware to configure it for the new thermistor?

Normally the e3d should be type 5 in marlin, as the velleman thermistor.

But you should get about 100 kOhms not 100 Ohms.
Are you sure it reads 100Ohms only at room temp?

If so, check if the pins are shorted on the part inserted in the extruder.
If they are not and you still get only 100 Ohms ther is a failure in the wiring or your thermistor is bad.
