Printer randomly stops

I have the problem that my printer randomly stops.
Sometimes after 5 minutes, sometimes 5 hours.

I already did:

  • moved the transformer as far as possible from the USB-cable;
  • moved all power cables as far as possible from the USB-cable;
  • cooling the transformer with freezerpacks.

Before I can re-use the printer after a stop I need to:

  • unplug the USB-cable;
  • unplug the power-cable or use the RESET button on the board;
  • (not sure, but I think I also need to restart my computer).

Can someone please help?

My K8200 is connected to a computer running repetier-server, but the problem occurs with repetier-server and repetier-host.

Thanks in advance!

Greetz

Thanks WrongWay

The computer settings:

  • Sleep mode = disabled;
  • USB Selective Suspend = disabled;

Do I need to check something else?

Check if there is an electric device in your house which can generate spikes. I have also connected the frame of the printer to earth.

Thanks Merallas

The problem is, I live in an appartment that’s about 50 yrs old. We have no earth.
Then offcourse I could connect the printer to the house heating (or water system), but we have electrical house heating.

Are you using the USB cable that was supplied with the printer?

Thanks Wrong Way for your responding and yes I use the USB cablr supplied with the printer.

My problem still aint solved! Does anyone have an idea? Someone from Velleman?

Did you find already a solution?
My printer sometimes also stops in the middle of a print.
I suspect the power cables close to the usb Cable.

Edit:

later this evening i noticed that when i turn on the TL light in a room next door to my printer, the printer suddenly stops.
i noticed this weekend that the same happens when my son turns on the TL Lights.

Do you have something similar?

I am for sure now.

It is the TL, or fluorescent lamps dat stops the printer.
Tested it several times, not always does it stops the printer, but many times it does.

And now, what to do about that?

Perhaps it helps when you connect the printer to another wall plug. Also a net filter can be helpful.

That is a really common problem.
TL Lights emit huge noise to the power line when starting.
Try a multi socket power strip with net filter

and connect anything printer related to it. Also the PC.
In most cases that will prevent stops.
