I tried printing conected to the computer a few times but now i tried with an SD card. The problem was that the outer lines did not go as it should. I wanted a radius on each corner but it only made propper radius on two corners (it made two pretty sharp corners). I also noticed that the 2-3 outer test layers crashed into the acual pice on the side with shap corners.
I am printing a 164x109x55.5 mm storage box for a drawer (1.75 mm thick). It should fit easily in the 180 x 200 x 190 mm space since i put it in the centre, right?
When it printed for a little while it started to make “grinding” noises. I think it might have been because it was putting plastic on areas it already had been on ( for that layer). I decidet to cancle the print but it continued. (the lcd showed the text " vertex is ready). It actually became worse because it was partially printing outside the 2-3 outer test layers. At that time it made more grinding noises so i think i manually moved the z axis using the dispay menu. I did another try dut it did not work.
Then i tried by rotateing the box 90 degrees and conected my printer to my computer and it became better. The 2-3 outer test layers were very close to the actual box on one side but not so much so that intersected the box.
My qustions are: why didn´t the printer stop properly and why did the 2-3 outer test layers intersect with the box on one side? (would also be nice with some help fixing these problems )
why didn´t the printer stop properly
When you cancel the print in the LCD menu it just stops moving the head but the heater stays on. So you’d better hit the reset button when you want to cancel a print.
why did the 2-3 outer test layers intersect with the box on one side?
This means your printer settings and the working surface are not correctly defined in Repieter. So you’ll get a difference between the object in the Object Placement window and the place where the bed is actually printed on the bed. The skirt and the object can’t be printed where you defined it so they’re printed as far as the head is allowed to go by the software.
Don’t forget that the print zone is smaller than shown in Repieter : the black dot shows the left limit but the default setting for the front limit is 5 mm but the head stops 20 mm before the edge of the bed.
When i cancled using the LCD menue it didn´t even stop the head, just kept going. I used the “cooldown” command when i finaly made it stop. I´ll try the reset button nxt time.
Can you explain how fix this please?
I have about 1 h left on the print but basically it has made some other noises occasionally. This has not happend before. It is sort of a scraping vibrating noise. It happens at certain places on the print. I think it the nozzle might be too close to the box/platform so that touches the plastic. Maybe the platform moved slightly during my last failed print?
