Printer Board will not start, no LED's or Com port

I have build the kit. Plugged in the USB cable as instructed in the manual and nothing happens, no LEDs light up. Nothing at all. The computer does not see a com port either.

What I have done:
I have 3 windows 8.1 PC’s so I tried to connect the USB on all of then, with the same negative result.

  • All have the current USB-Com port driver, which works correctly on all 3 machines. I have a USB to Serial cable I use for my Raspberry Pi and it works properly with the same FTDI drivers.
  • I tried with the 15v Power supply connected and disconnected
  • I searched the forums for possible answers and found none.
  • I used the USB port to upload to my Arduino UNO and it works properly.

So it is impossible for me to get to the next step with the K8200 which I need to complete a project.

I suspect the board is defective but I am unable to diagnose further.

Any advice would be appreciated?

Update:

  1. I contacted Velleman USA support, we determined it was a control board problem.
  2. Once my retailer was informed it would be a Velleman RMA, they agreed to provide me with a replacement board.

The new board was installed and all is well.
